Summary: KMail's IMAP engine has no resilience against network
                    failure
           Product: kmail2
           Version: 4.8
          Platform: Archlinux Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: remy.sanchez at hyperthese.net

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

I live in India, and there the quality of any service is quite random,
especially regarding Internet: the router crashes, the transits gets saturated,
the electricity gets cut for an hour or many things like that.
As a result, the IMAP connection fails all the time, and never recovers by
itself, and thus I always need to switch online/offline a few times or even to
kill the akonadi_imap_resource process to get it back... until the next cut.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Connect your IMAP mailbox
- Cut the Internet connection in some way, in a "non-visible" way, like by
dropping the default route
- After a while, restore the Internet connection

Actual Results:
- Kmail does not switch offline
- When the connection comes back, no matter how long you wait the imap daemon
stays down and no more email is received

Expected Results:
- Kmail would detect the connection cut
- When the Internet comes back, the IMAP connection should be immediately
restored
