Using 4.8.0 (on Gentoo) this behavior no longer occurs.  Now when I select
simple view, I see one address book entry at a time and buttons appear on the
bottom of the window (Previous and Next) allowing me to move forward and
backward through the address book.

In my opinion, the problem is resolved with 4.8.0.
