Bug confirmed in gentoo with:

mike at münchen ~ $ kmail --version
Qt: 4.8.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.9.3
KMail: 4.9.3

Here some info about the IMAP server (MS Exchange Server 2003 ver. 6.5.7638.1):
