I am experiencing the same problem. I can create lists (aka groups) in
"Contacts" but these lists are not usable from kmail.

When writing a mail, I can select the "list name" from my personal address book
but this "list name" will not get expanded to the list of email adresses of
this "group".

In the end the email server is rejecting the email because the destination
address is in the form of "list name"@"my system name" instead of the list of
addresses contained into the list.

I am using Ubuntu 11.4. This means Kontact 4.4.10, KaddressBook 4.4.10, and
kmail 1.13.6, KDE 4.6.2
