I am experiencing the same problem in FC13, KMail Version 1.13.6, KDE
4.5.5. There is a bug report for that, too: 
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259421

There are no files in /tmp/kde-<myusername> at the moment. I also deleted
everything from the ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/imap/, with no improvement
