I have the same problem. I installed the kubuntu ppa packages for 4.7.3 and now
kmail doesn't send mails.

The mails stay in the outbox. Even when choosing send outbox ("Postausgang
versenden")
There is no error shown nor does it seem as if kmail tries to send the mails
(no progress indicator).
