I am no expert in IMAP or KDEPIM but I hope this could help you.

I checked out kdepimlibs from the v4.7.3 tag and uncommented the debug output
of the response in kimap/job.cpp in Job::handleErrorReplies. This I believe
gives you an idea of all the responses from the server before the imap resource
crashes and maybe figure out what the code fails on and why. If you need any
more input from me, let me know what you want me to do and we'll see if I will
be able to help you.

Please find the debug output generated in the "kdebug output" attachment.
