As far as I know Kmail 2 isn't out yet and when it does get released it will be
buggy and not adopted by many distros until it proves itself to be reliable.

Hence it is important to fix this bug. I have thousands of emails and I am sure
that this fact coupled with Kmail's periodic "compacting" of those emails is
what causes the massive slow down.

If you really can't see why fixing this bug now would be useful, please at
least test Kmail 2 with tens of thousands of emails in say 20 different folders
and check that it doesn't lock up the system when doing main "compacting".

Testing with 20 emails will not show up a problem!
