These two lines have been in my ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc in [general]

SizeThreshold=4096
ExternalPayload=false

Volker advised me to remove them which solved the issue. So this boils down to
detect that the mail is too large to be stored and giving the user a message on
why this fails and how he could fix it.
