Summary: akonadi is not keeping pim resource files in sync
Product: Akonadi
Version: 4.4
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: roth at ursus.net
Version: 4.4 (using KDE 4.5.5)
OS: Linux
When I make edits to the address book in kontact ("Personal Address Book"
backend) or to the calendar ("ICal Calendar File" backend) the changes are
persistent (i.e. stored in mysql) but are not reflected in the backend files
themselves. In both cases I have the backends configured for read/write
operation.
What is the expected behavior here? Is Akonadi supposed to keep the backend
files in sync with local edits, or is only a one-way migration into its mysql
store? I'd like to be able to preserve the pim resource files for backups, and
for read-only copies for remote kde clients.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. edit an address book entry
2. stop and restart kontact
3. stop and restart akonadi
4. verify that the address book edit persists in the address book
5. verify that the address book edit persists on-disk in the vcf file(s)
Actual Results:
I would expect edits in kontact to be reflected in the VCF files associated
with the Personal Address Book
Expected Results:
What I am finding is that the VCF files are not being updated as the address
book changes.
This issue is being reported w.r.t. a Fedora 14 system (x86_64) with updates
from the kde-redhat repository.
The same issue happens for the ical backend; the calendar entries are not
persisted to the .ics file. In 'akonadiconsole' I see that the edited calendar
entries show up in the browser tab as having a new record ID but having an
empty "Remote Id".
