UPSTREAM from KMail POV is Akonadi which does support IDLE.  All we need is a
release (or beta) of KMail using Akonadi.  And according to
<http://dot.kde.org/2011/03/15/9th-annual-pim-meeting-renews-commitment-innovation>
such a version should be here RSN (like this year).
