I am still on KDE 4.6.2 and Kontact 4.4.10 (as before) but I am not now getting
a crash every time. If I logged out or restarted then, last time I tried to use
Kontact regularly, I found a pop up warning of another kontact running. If I
pressed exit and then started Kontact, it crashed. Now it does not crash (or
has not the several times I have tried today whereas, previously, it crashed
every time. I have got rid of the popup, another kontact is running, by
excluding Kontact from the KDE restore session and explicitly starting it at
login (automatically not manually). I will give this a go for a few days and
see if it remains fixed
