i've fixed my own problem by changing the following setting : misc/"mark
selected message as read after".
It was checked, and the delay was '5 sec'. Now, it is still checked, but with
the default value of '0'.

I still have the 'conflict resolution box' from times to times, but it's really
rare now. kmail is now almost usable.
