I can confirm this issue, but with other circumstances.

I do not have a base64 message, which shows the same problem. The only problem
is the absence of EOL at the end of the message. In HTML, this line is thrown
away. In plain text mails, the last line is shown correctly.

I use KDE/Kontact 4.4.2 and KMail 1.13.2
