Summary: KMail hangs when displaying message with in-line GPG
signature of unknown key
Product: kmail
Version: 1.13.5
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: tobias-inet00 at nightlabs.de
Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux
I have received an email that is signed with a GPG key that I do not yet have
important to my key management and hence is unknown to KMail. If I click on
this e-mail, KMail locks up completely for about one minute after which it
displays the e-mail along with the signature decoration stating "Not enough
information to check signature validity." Clicking on "Show Details" again
locks KMail up for about one minute after which it presents the additional
information "Message was signed with unknown key 0xXXXXXXX. The validity of the
signature cannot be verified."
The signature has the following meta information:
Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux)
Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/
Displaying mails with a signature of a known key works without any problems.
A similar bug on Debian seems to have fixed about six years ago:
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-closed@lists.debian.org/msg22162.html
Please let me know if I can provide additional information that helps to fix
that bug since it is really annoying...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Click on the link with a signature of an unknown key.
Actual Results:
More than one minute lock up of the UI.
Expected Results:
A normal display of the mail without any lock up.
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-27-generic
Compiler: cc
