I observe the same high CPU usage by plasma-desktop and xorg with the KDE4.6
release.  Generally usage is low after booting, and becomes intolerably high
(totaling near 100% of total CPU) after a while, often associated with leaving
machine for a few/10 minutes and coming back to it.
