So basically, your point here is to be able to apply some filtering (that is to
download a mail and eg move it to a folder, mark as read etc.) and delete it on
server (regardless the global setting - keep mail on server after downloading),
correct?

If so, then I guess your idea boils down to having a filter action 'Delete on
server' in the (normal/non-POP) filters dialogue - am I right?
