I deleted the IMAP account and re-added it. The problem of not being able to
load my inbox went away, but then I still couldn't send any messages.

After restarting (because akonadi_email_feeder was killing my CPU), I am back
at the same problem. Restarting Akonadi from the command line eventually prints
the following messages:

> processing retrieval request for item 82590  parts: ("ENVELOPE")  of resource: "akonadi_imap_resource_6" 
> request for item 82590 still pending - waiting 
> continuing 
> request for item 82590 "503875" failed: "Unable to retrieve item from resource: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

The inbox still works in the old version of kmail.
