I had the identical problem in openSUSE 12.1. I've switched to 11.4 and updated
KDE to 4.7.3 and got exactly the same result. 

Also the migrator doesn't have a clue what state it's in. After a cancelled
migrate from the dialogue window, I tried ‘kmail-migrator --interactive’ and
got told "I've already done this, I'm not doing it again" - or words to that
effect. Later, after what purported to be a successful migrate (but with only
empty folders) a restart of kmail2 brought up the dialogue window again to ask
if I wanted to migrate!
