Applying fix as documented in #C11 allow kontact preferences to be launched
again.
The first time it's open, the selected module was the free-busy one (the last
I've used before disabling kmail module)
-kontact_kmailpluginEnabled=false
+kontact_kmailpluginEnabled=true
kontact_knotespluginEnabled=true


It looks like disabling it sends some kind of pointer or such into the dark. 
Would be cool to have this fixed for 4.7.x and 4.8
