what you are describing is a totally different bug than the one I first
reported: Reading email was not possible even using a working internet
connexion. It has been fixed a long time ago now.

What you are describing in comment #5 is linked to the 'Enable Disconnected
Mode' check box being unchecked so I reported a different bug about that:
See bug #252178.

So I am verifying this bug.
