Since I fixed it I can't reproduce it with Okular. Digikam, Kaffienne,
Konqueror and Dolphin however exhibit the same behaviour after reboot.  Digikam
and Konqueror of course can be restored using the Ctrl+shift+f keyboard
shortcut. Kaffienne and Dolphin don't have that facility.

Changing desktop themes makes no difference, that was my first consideration.
