And count me in for $50 for the KDE3 Trinity bounty.

The kdesvn-build script (now kdesrc-build) made it really easy for me to fiddle
around with and compile modifications to a KDE4 game.  (At least under an
existing user-geared KDE4 environment.)  I don't know if it will suit your
needs for the phase 1 portability considerations or even phase 2, but it may be
worth a look.  Here's its homepage:
