I really think this is a very old kmail bug that was never addressed.
That's really too bad
I have it randomly since old KDE 3.
I happens quite often when I connect another monitor.
Steps:
in emacs, press a key and let it repeat during 10 sec: when you release your
finger, it stops.
in kmail editor, press a key and let it repeat during 10 sec: display is much
slower and when you release your finger, it goes on typing for 40 sec (no
kidding !)
