I tested saving attachment today and I was able to save them both from the
Actions tab (Attachments - Save all Attachments) or by clicking on the
attachment name from within the Message viewer and selecting 'Save As...'
button.

In both cases a File browser dialogue appears and it is possible to save the
attachment (not easy though as the file browser is buggy: see bug #256761 for
more details)

I was also able to display attachments but there were display pbs that I
reported (see bug #256758 for more details)
