I haven't had this Kontact crash since I switched to KDE 4.4.2 on Karmic, but
Ryan Gordon is still affected with KDE 4.4.2 on Lucid, and Jon Skanes is
affected with KDE 4.4.1 on Karmic.

Some possible reasons for my good fortune:
- I'm using KDE 4.4.2 from the Launchpad PPA,
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu karmic main
- I switched hardware and changed from the i386 Ubuntu variant to amd64.
- I copied my data files into a new home directory, so most of my old
preferences were destroyed.
