you need a username and pass to access the server, but you only get one, if you
study at or work for a german university...

When I look at the properties of the server, they're still displayed with
uppercase, but when I try to subscribe to groups it tells me I have no list of
articles. I chose to fetch the list of articles and then I get

Timeout on server news.cis.dfn.de
(this is a translation from the german error message "Zeitüberschreitung auf
dem Server news.cis.dfn.de")
