Summary: kmail to exclude certain folders from unread message
                    count shown in systray
           Product: kmail
           Version: 1.13.1
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: andrew.dorrell at gmail.com

Version: 1.13.1 (using 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1), Chakra)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-ARCH

I access my gmail account using kmail via imap. Perhaps due to some quirk in
the way gmail does things, all mail appears in one "special" folder which kmail
renders with a grey folder icon in the folder view window. It is entitled
simply "[Google Mail]". The "regular" folders that I actually use, including
the inbox and folders I have created, are rendered blue or with a nice icon.

The problem is that messages marked as read in a regular folder are not also
marked as read in the special "[Google Mail]" folder. This means that the
number of unread messages kmail indicates in the systray icon is huge and
meaningless.

A quick solution would be to allow the user to deselect any folder from the
running total shown in the systray. More generally, a more correct handling of
gmail/imap would be required. Thunderbird for example doesn't show any message
counts for the special "[Google Mail]" folder.

Thanks in advance for considering this issue.
