I'm currently having this problem with my KMail setup (2 IMAP + 1 POP3) pretty
regularly if not always after a suspend/resume cycle. My connections
arbitrarily broke and re-establish (generally oafter resume but sometimes
connections break again) and my internet connection is not shaky by any means
(with an uptime comparable to a top iron Linux server).

OTOH, the aim is not to workaround the bug. The aim is to make KMail work as
expected. I expect if a feature is included in a software, it should work. It's
there to work, not to be worked around. I'm a computer programmer and I
strongly object the perspective of dodging bugs.
