This happens to me as well with a POP account of the German Free-mailer GMX. 

No troubles with my IMAP accounts.

Kubuntu 10.04
KDE 4.4.90 (KDE 4.5 RC1)
Kontact Version 4.4.5
KMail 1.13.5
