I'll attach the .xsession-errors files for both 2.6.31.10 and 2.6.32.5 kernel
despite "kernel upgrade should not break user space" is valid bc I'm not sure
whether this is an issue of the kernel/i915/KMS subsystem or an issue of Xorg
and/or KDE.

All files were derived by 
1) login into KDE 4.3.3
2) cp .xsession-errors x.`uname -r`.before
3) suspend to ram
4) wakeup
5) cp .xsession-errors x.`uname -r`.after
