Hej,

KAddressBook does not have a blue welcome page, could it be you mean Kontact?
If the menu entries are not visible, I might be a configuration problem
of your installation. Please try to remove the file
  $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kaddressbook/kaddressbookuirc
or any other file ending with uirc

Works fine with a vanilla installation here
