unfortunately I am able to confirm this with: 

KDE SC 4.4.0   (kdelibs is definitely the final released one) 
Qt 4.6.1 
Gentoo Linux x86_64 

The details are shown in the middle column, however, the column on the right
does not show any details. The edit dialogue as well shows no details, and
changes are not saved. 

The data is definitely there, as it is possible to show it in the middle
column. 

Akonadi uses a vcf file for the data. 

Please ask if you need further information.
