Summary: favorite folders: please option to show as list as it
is in Kmail1
Product: kmail2
Version: 2.0.89
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: bugzilla at kerridis.de
Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS: Linux
In Kmail2 the favorite folders are shown as icons instead of a list. This has
some disadvantages:
- The most important and annoying is they don't have any informatinal value:
you cannot see how much mails are in the folder and you cannot see if the
folder contains new messages. But that's a very important part of those
favorites IMHO, to see at one glance that in those important folders something
new happend. Especially when you have a very long list of mail folders which
are out of sight you - I - depend on that information for the favorite folders.
- They are not configurable in size: some people need or prefer small icons,
others need big icons
- IMHO the icon view mode wastes too much space compared to a list and at least
to me it looks more cluttered.
- IMHO a list is easier to "grab" because you don't have to orientate in two
directions. With icon view above and folder list below you have to orientate
from left to right above and top to bottom below. One direction, only top to
bottom, is faster to overlook and at least for me more pleasant.
Reproducible: Always
Expected Results:
The favorite folder icons should
1. be configurable in size
2. optionally show information like number of new/unread mails + an indicator
that there are new unread mails in that folder
3. offer the option to show as list like it was in kmail1
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.35-24-generic
Compiler: cc
