Two problems: 

If the opportunity to auto-complete arises, e.g., after typing first two or
three letters of often used email address, then picking it freezes the "to"
field, without any more characters entered. 

Only deletion unfreezes field.

Second problem, replying can leave "to" field empty

Reproducible: Always
