I've forwarded Paul Lemmon's email to Tim to see what he has to say.  It
seems quite reasonable.  I had planned to keep the pledge amounts in a
spreadsheet with names, amounts, email addresses, etc.  I could
privately communicate with the individuals about bank details for checks
or transfers.  I was planning to regularly update this bug with the
tally.  I suspect it will take a while.  At $40 a piece, we'll need 40
sponsors.

I certainly don't mind a more formal structure but also have no
experience in doing this.  I had set up the Open Source Development
Corp. (www.opensourcedevel.com) many years ago to do just this sort of
thing but it did not gain traction and I closed the bank account long
ago.  If anyone has specific suggestions for a more formal structure,
I'm certainly interested to hear them as long as they do not impose an
inordinate overhead as my company is in startup mode and time is in very
