It's wrong library linking.

Snippet of backtrace in my case:

#7 0xb3386234 in EVP_MD_CTX_md () from /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8
#8 0xabe2ac66 in tls1_enc () from /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0

And problem solved by symlinking libcrypto.so.0.9.8
