I am unsure if this is fully resolved, though.

Architecture: i386
Source: kdepim
Version: 4:4.5~e5.20100820.1165966-kk1.1167412

(Upgraded configuration and cache.)
I've synced today to a folder that had two new emails for this client.
The folder had been synced with the n900 before.

I could not see the two new emails in my kontact.
Akonadiconsole showed me, that they were there, but kontact did not display
them. The only difference to the other emails in the folder was that they "new"
emails had the "\SEEN" flags and the other had a flag called "Old".
I somehow resolved the situation by removing the "Old" flag in Akonadiconsole
Browser, Internals for one email.

Now new emails are being displayed again when they come in fresh.

So there is still a trigger to show this problem 
and there is a situtation where the client is stuck (at least for one folder).
