Hej Russ,

can you update your system to KDE 4.4.5 please?
The backtrace you sent (with the crash in mysql_get_server_version) looks more
like a setup problem on your system to me. Incompatible mysql client/server
versions? I've never seen such a problem here before.
I'll close the bug report for now, feel free to reopen it if you can reproduce
the bug with a current KDE version.
