Sorry, I apologize for that. I thought it must be an upstream modification,
especially since USE flags were mentioned, and I couldn't reproduce it here.

I'll mark as duplicate of bug 219687. The freezes can actually be caused by
multiple things, most of that should be fixed in 4.4.1 already though, so I
thought this case must have been something else.
