Summary: disconnected imap inbox messages are not imported into
kmail but removed from the server
Product: kmail
Version: unspecified
Platform: Mandriva RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: sergei at stams.strath.ac.uk
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs
After upgrade from Mandriva 2009.0 to the most recent 2009.1 the first run of
kmail refreshed the cache
and has shown correctly all disconnected imap folders apart from inbox where it
has shown nothing. More critically, it has removed all the messages present in
INBOX on the server. After I have restored the messages from the backup, I
tried to rebuild index and the whole cache, but the messages were still not
shown and eventually removed again from the server.
Finally, I have done the following experiment:
I have restored 1 email in the server inbox, accessed it from another Mandriva
2007.1 box, then copied INBOX and .INBOX.* directories from
.kde/share/apps/kmail/dimap/.*.directory/ to .kde4 on the 2009.1 machine. Then
kmail has shown this very message in inbox. But after I have added new messages
to the server, inbox (despite showing the progress of updating the cache) still
shows just one message. Deleting it in kmail resulted in ALL messages on the
server to be deleted.
Maybe this is related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164679
Reported also to Mandriva: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=50646
where I have also put contents of the original INBOX directory structure in the
cache and, for comparison, the INBOX structure copied from 2007.1 box
