to comment #2: with kmail/KDE4 I can print a forwarded (attached) mail.
The "View" Menu in the right-mouse popup seems to be a kind of "debugging" tool
as it only shows the content in its "over-the-wire" form - at least for e.g. an
attached PDF (probably for all attachments it can not display directly).

For attachments kmail can show directly (e.g. a JPG file), those are also
printed with kmail/KDE4

For all other attachments, kmail itself can never display and therefore print
all kinds of attached documents. Those need to be opened with an external
application.

As kmail does what it should in my understanding, I'll close this case.
If you still find problems which you think should be solved, please attach a
corresponding mail to test with and reopen this issue.
