Essentially, since once you tick Use HTML you get formatting buttons, I was
expecting the signature to work like a WYSIWYG editor, which doesn't fully, re
trimming white space.

Then I think the issue is more of understanding how the feature work. There is
no help file with Kmail (at least in Kubuntu) and I couldn't find any clue
online. I have done some tests to see if I'm missing the obvious, but entering
something like:
<strong>My Name</strong><pre>                   </pre>&nbps;<strong>My
Company</strong> 

prints the html tags.
I would appreciate a hint of how it works, or a link to anything which could
help.
