I see the same issues (Mandriva Cooker, KDE 4.3.85). Especially the
very-long-staying "Retrieving Folder Contents" for an up-to-date folder which
stays until the previous folder has finished loading, is very irritating.

However, I just noticed that if one clicks the folder for a 2nd time while the
"Retrieving Folder Contents" is shown, the folder is opened immediately.
