I confirm this for KDE 4.3.85. It used to work up until on KDE 4.3.4 but
stopped working in KDE 4.4 Beta 2.

Reproduceable: Go into a mail folder, klick the first mail in list (with
preview pane enabled) and press hotkey [CTRL]+[A]: The text in the preview pane
is selected instead of the messages in the list (like it used to work before).
