I forgot to mention, deleting ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail removes some of the kmail
config. It's able to start (was crashing on start) and my emailaccounts are
still there, though some settings seem lost (like favourites), but that doesn't
bother me. Am just glad I didn't have to set up all my email accounts anew...
