I must point out that in my (fairly extensive) experience with failed projects
- they almost always prioritise technical integration over the user needs. So
we will wind up having a fantastic integrated solution for very few people. 
Also, I agree that this resistance to HTML is partly (maybe wholly) driven by a
geek purity meme; I think HTML is viewed as something nasty corporations use.
After 3 or 4 years I am now investigating Zimbra and other clients. If I adopt
that, I probably won't come back - integration or not. 
It is a great, great pity - and I feel great reluctance to do it. But I must
move on.
