Donations received by many projects aren't grown from soil.
And no, I understand these scarce donations can not be considered like hiring
devs who receive them, so of course devs don't owe anything to users. But
again, if they are trying to make a widely used desktop environment they should
pay some attention to certain reasonable claims from real world users and not
just statements form computer science students or even experienced programmers
who affirm html mails are evil just because in their strait world text mails
are enough.
I think eyecandy and some not too important plasmoids can wait, and manpower be
concentrated on important things like Nepomuk, Akonadi or making Kmail a
serious emaill client which can be used in enterprise environments (and I'm
sure companies would make better donations than private users... if apps were
just useful); but I am not thinking developers owe it to me because I once
donated some euros; it's just a feature most users who use mail for work think
any modern mail composer should have.
