This bug is not abandoned. In fact there are two approaches for it:
* Akonadi imap implementation, that hopefully will solve all of the imap
problems.
* fixing the kio_imap (until the akonadi implementation will be ready).

Ingo just removed one mailing list that is used by developers, but not to
receive updates about bugs, which is kdepim-bugs at kde.org.

I don't know, if my problem is exactly the same, but I'm sure it's related.

I'm using IMAP/ssl.

Usually before suspend I put kmail (1.12.0) into offline mode. But connections
are obviously not always closed, as sometimes after resume (and changing kmail
back to online) I get the problem that mail checking in inbox never completes,
often not.

But I sure get this problem, if I change from (Open)VPN to WLAN/LAN or back. I
have to restart kmail in those cases.
