I have this or a similar problem here on Mandriva Linux Cooker. I selected some
messages and then did "Copy messages". Afterwards, I went to a new folder, and
pasted them, and then KMail thought for a long while and then it crashed.

Very annoying.

I'm using kmail-4.3.0-1mdv2010.0 on IceWM.
